Calob

Sculpture Number 132

|
Calob started life as a small ball of clay. He was sculpted by
hand, with no molds used. Special attention was paid to his
tiniest features. He sleeps inside of a real egg, and was also
sculpted while inside the egg! It was difficult to work in
such a small area! His body was painted using heat set oil
paints for added realism. He has small whisps of auburn
hair. The inside of his egg was decorated with fine pieces of
copper foil, and the outside of his egg is lined with tissue paper
and sealed. The egg rests on a wooden base that was painted
gold and has a lining of the copper foil. He is removable from
the base, and if you like a hole can be drilled in the top so he can
hang as an ornament. The egg measures 2 1/12 inches, and with it's base it measures just under 4 inches. |
